Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. It’s that time of the year to be cleaning out and reorganizing and preparing for the energy of the new year. That’s exactly what has been going on here at the shop. Though I feel like I keep cleaning out and organizing and more things keep appearing! LOL

This year I didn’t do any goal setting, though I am trying every day to write a note about something for which I am grateful and put it in my beautiful box that I made in one of Jennifer Lynn Ziemann’s classes. I have seen this done with a jar as well.
Sometimes we all need reminders that overall we have very great lives if we have our health, family, food on the table, a roof over our head and clothes on our back.
What are you grateful to have in your life?
Wishing you a fabulous 2015,
Nicole and Embers

New Products – Garden Bon Bons™ and Garden Pops!
I am so excited to have these coming into the shop in the next week or so!
Garden Bon Bons™ and Garden Pops are what happens when you combine the profession of landscape architect with the passion of gardening. Small Business and Woman owned – the only thing that would be better would be if she was local! But these were too fun to pass up!
This process has been around for centuries and historically they are little coin sized balls of clay, compost soil and seed. The compost provides extra nutrients in case they are planted in poor soil conditions and the clay keeps insects and small animals from walking off with the seed. They really just need sunshine and water to grow anywhere. Native Americans used them and they are used around the world as a form of sustainable agriculture today.
Each “truffle” is handrolled with a different type of seed. The various “truffles” are made out of organic compost soil, clay and seed – sometimes adding a natural pesticide like coffee or cinnamon for dramatic effect.
This is the perfect “box of chocolates” for Satan’s Holiday (– ooopsssie did I say that out loud?) I mean Valentine’s Day. Your attractive box of “truffles” is perfect for the novice gardener or expert. The expert will appreciate the care that’s gone into choosing appropriate seed varieties and the novice will like how easy it is to start growing. It’s also terrific for apartment dwellers and container planting since the bon bons just need to be laid on the soil and no digging is involved.
We have several different boxes available so pick the one that suits best.
- Birds and Butterflies – Yarrow, Calendula, Bachelor Button, Godetia, Lance Leaf Coreopsis, Plains Coreopsis, Cosmos, California poppy, Indian Blanket, Birds Eye, Baby’s Breath, Perennial Lupine, Mexican Hat, Blackeyed Susan
- Edible Flowers – anise hyssop, calendula, nasturtiums, violas
- Herbal teas – borage, chamomile, lemon balm, anise
$16 each
