Spring is fast approaching! We start by springing our clocks forward on Sunday, March 8, and then spring is officially here on Thursday, March 19th. I am super excited to be starting our magical outdoor space that my friend Brandy designed, and starting the front landscaping that my friend Isaac designed! It is fabulous to have such cool creative friends.
Good thing the Salvadoran has muscles and lots of patience. He told me I could design whatever I wanted for the “deck” and he could build it…pretty sure this awesomeness was not what he had in mind! LOL
So this month is going to be filled with outdoor projects starting with french drains, parking area and garden. Our garden was kind of a bust last year, mostly my fault. The soil I got was just terrible I guess and we tried to do container gardening in the old gutters. I saw that online but it didn’t work so great for us. This will obviously be a process and not all getting done this month, but hey it is good to have goals and a vision. I don’t have the best green thumb but I sure am trying!
What kind of projects do you have going on? Do you plant a garden? What do you love to plant? Pop over to Facebook, show a picture and let us know your plan!
Happy Spring, Happy Planting!

The Beauty of South Carolina – The Oconee Bell Wildflowers are getting ready to show us their glory!

Did you know the end of March is the best time to go hiking in Oconee County to see the Oconee Bells? The rare Oconee Bell is a delicate bell-shaped wildflower with a white and yellow blossom with red stem and red-tinged leaves. They are found only in isolated locations in the southern Appalachians.
You can see them on the short hike on the Oconee Bell Trail at Devils Fork State Park at Lake Jocassee. This is a very easy 1-mile loop. The bells only bloom from late March to early April. I finally got to see the bells last year on one of my hiking trips! So make some time to go see one of the beautiful wildflowers of SC.
