June 18, 2017 is Father’s Day!
I know most of you have heard me talk about Shoopy, my Grandfather. I lost him 2 years ago June 2nd. I think of him all the time and it really is hard to believe that he is gone.
This month in honor of Father’s Day and Shoopy, I will be donating 10% of all sales to St Jude’s Hospital. It was one of the charities Shoopy asked for donations to be made in his name.
You know part of my business is retail and gift certificates. I have all of those things that maybe your Dad might like or maybe he doesn’t really need at all. But I do know that time spent with him will mean more than any present you could ever buy. So maybe there is a project he could use help with or maybe he loves golf or wants to go see a show or whatever it is that your Dad loves to do or maybe just sit down and really ask questions about his life.
There are things I wish I had written down about Shoopy so that I could remember them better. Just spend the time, because one day he will be gone and all you will have are the memories. I am always here to help if you need me, but the best present you can give anyone is your time and love.

A Day at Raspberry Moon Through the Eyes of My Niece – New Blog Post
I am a terrible Auntie! My niece came to work with me in DECEMBER and wrote this lovely blog post and I am just now getting around to posting it. She wanted to see what business women do, we didn’t traumatize her with any waxing appointments but she did observe some facial treatments. She had a great time and I had a lots of help all day which was awesome! My Mom said they came to check on her and they were informed “Aunt Nikki is with clients and I am not leaving” LOL So below is what my niece thinks of her day with me.
My Visit to Raspberry Moon – By L.R. Martin (my niece)
So today I came here with my Aunt Nicole, and I learned a few things. I learned about wax and what it does, a micro current, LED light, business, and much more.
There is this yellow stuff and it kind of looks like honey. It is actually wax. Once you apply to the skin you rip it off a few seconds later and the hair is removed. If you wax enough, you don’t have to do it as much in those areas after a period of time. (She has been corrected that we don’t say ripped! We say removed!)

Tomatoes are a staple in every kitchen but hardly ever will you hear anyone extolling their cosmetic benefits. Whether you want to cure large pores or reduce acne and rashes or sooth a nasty sunburn or simply to revive the glow on dull skin, tomatoes are beneficial in beauty treatments. Tomatoes contain Lycopene, a potent antioxidant found in red fruits and vegetables. Its anti-inflammatory properties help clear excess oil from your hair and scalp, leaving hair feeling soft, full, and balanced.

The Difference Between Dry and Dehydrated Skin
Believe it or not, there is a difference! Dry skin is a skin type and this is something that has to do with genetics. Dry skin means that you don’t produce enough oil. You can tell that you have dry skin if your pores are very small, the skin feels dry, dull, tight, flaking and could show signs of premature aging. You could also have oily areas on the nose or “huge pores” in the T-zone (you dry people don’t know what huge pores are! LOL I have several clients that I have to take away their magnifying mirrors! They become obsessed!) It is actually good for your skin to have some oil on it! That film protects your skin and helps to keep it hydrated.
Florence Barrett-Hill, an international esthetics educator, says that “there is a simple law of physics that can be applied to Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and that is: Oil sits on top of water. Logically, if we want to retain water within the epidermis or slow down water movement, the oil phases of skin are the key to achieving this.”
Dehydration on the other hand is a skin condition and has to do with the water content in the skin. Dehydration can be caused by lifestyle, smoking, medications, illness, environmental factors, indoor heating and cooling, sun damage, and even hormones. Also, those that have rosacea or are prone to red skin usually have hydration issues as well.
Dehydration is usually indicated by fine lines and crepiness, you may also sometimes have scaling, which will cause deeper wrinkles, and sagging.
What are some things you can do to fight dryness and dehydration?
LED Light Therapy – This can improve both issues by improving the function of the skin. The red light triggers new cell growth for tighter, rejuvenated skin which will increase collagen to help the skin retain hydration. (Yep – I have this treatment and it is awesome!)
Hyaluronic Acid – This is one of the most effective skin-hydrating ingredients. HA draws moisture to the skin and depending on different formulations, can help surface issues by improving surface hydration and filling in file lines and wrinkles, improving elasticity. (Yep – I have several products that can help!)
Acetyl hexapeptide-37 is great for hydrating even the most sensitive skin. This peptide works on hydration and shows promise in collagen production.
The best thing you can do for your skin is to drink plenty of water, watch your sun exposure, don’t smoke, be consistent and use professional grade active products. You may also need to add a high quality fish oil supplement like Nordic. Your nutritionist could also be a great source for supplements that could help internally.
