So I was doing some research on fun things to celebrate in April. Seems like April is full of things to be aware of, celebrate and enjoy. I will post some of the daily things on Raspberry Moon Facebook or Instagram so be sure to check that out. There might even be some fun series involved!? Who knows!
April is National Autism Month, Sexual Assault Awareness, Stress Awareness, National Garden and Rosacea Awareness and I am sure there are a bunch of other things too! Here are just a few links below from previous blog posts and newsletters, I hope you enjoy them.
Love,
Nicole
April is Rosacea Awareness Month
There are approximately 16 million Americans suffering from Rosacea according to the National Rosacea Society (NRS).
Rosacea is a tricky little beast to treat. There is no clear reason what causes it or exactly what to do to clear it up. It could be caused from:
- Certain foods
- Fluctuations in temperature
- Demodex mites
- Intestinal bacteria
- Or could be another culprit
So what can be done to help? Use items that are calming and cooling to the skin. I offer calming facial treatments to help your skin. Using good skincare of course can really help your skin look and feel its best. Here is a Skin Script Kit designed for those with super sensitive skin and rosacea.
Rosacea Skincare Kit Includes:
- Green Tea Antioxidant Cleanser
- Cucumber Toner
- Retinol 2% Exfoliation Scrub
- Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum
- Acai Berry Antioxidant Moisturizer
Antioxidants including Acai Berry and Green Tea will calm the skin. Antioxidants fight free radicals and the aging process, as well as give the skin a healthy, fresh glow. Retinol (used gently and occasionally) will polish the skin and remove dead skin cells. Skin Script’s retinol scrub contains jojoba beads to heal the skin as it exfoliates. Green tea and Vitamin C diminish redness and give the skin an overall glow and softness.
Enjoy a Honey Facial
For a nice calming, hydrating, antibacterial mask, simply use some local honey. Put the honey in a small bowl and place it in a larger bowl of hot water so that the honey can melt just a little bit. It will make it easier to spread. Apply the mask and let it sit for 15 mins. This is such a simple mask and so gentle you can actually do it every day.
Check out our blog post about using honey in skin care for more information and detailed facial mask recipes using honey.
Ice is also your friend, you can soak compresses in cool water and place on the skin. Try to avoid or limit steam as much as possible.
Destress with Yoga for Stress Awareness Month
Liz from Greenville Yoga taught a 30 minute session for our Women Social Business Group on how to remain calm during the holidays, but her tips from 2013 are just as valuable today and all year long. Here are two of the poses that I thought were super helpful and easy.
Legs up the wall
This is a super easy pose and is great after those long flights or driving. It also helps to relax you and helps with depression.
The graphic below is a great illustration of how to get into this pose and leg options while you’re in the pose.
Heart Opener
The heart opener pose uses a bolster or blanket rolled up supporting your spine. Put the soles of your feet together and create a diamond. Your arms will rest at your side. This pose helps with anxiety and stress. It also helps to relieve indigestion.
This site has 5 poses using a bolster, including the Heart Opener: http://thehealthylivinglounge.com/2010/09/09/5-great-therapeutic-uses-for-yoga-bolsters/
Namaste, y’all!
Facial of the Month – Jelly Bean Facial
Grapes and Marble Berries come together this spring in a unique anti-aging, antioxidant nourishing facial. Antioxidants feed our skin cells to create glowing, radiant skin. The sweet-smelling Grape Enzyme in this protocol looks and feels just like the inside of a grape. Grapes are rich in antioxidant polyphenols and offer anti-aging preventative benefits, while papain offers mild exfoliation. The Marble Berry Nourishing Mask will nourish and firm the skin, resulting in a beautiful, healthy glow. The Marble Berry mask is an antioxidant-rich mask to treat and hydrate the skin. It will be a great anti-aging, nourishing facial.
The Grape Enzyme contains only gentle enzymes so it is perfect for all skin types. Marble Berry is designed specifically for aging and parched skin. This unique purple cream mask has natural botanicals of olives and black rice bran which is sure to leave skin feeling and looking refreshed and healthy. The mask also helps to protect and oxygenate the skin, leaving it looking youthful and clear.

April is National Garden Month
Here are some great past blog posts and a newsletter in honor of National Garden Month. Our Lunch and Learn a couple of years ago was all about bees and pollinators, and we wrote two blog posts summarizing the information presented by our expert speakers.
All About the Bees – why bees are on the decline, and ways in which we can support them in our own back yard.
Monarch Butterflies and All Their Glory – the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly (all the way to Mexico!), threats against them and how we can help them. Includes great links to more information.
And waaaaay back in 2010, our April newsletter that year was all about organic and eco-friendly gardening. Some of the links may no longer work, but many of the tips still apply today. Maybe more than ever!
Appointments and Online Booking
Did you know that we now have an online booking system? Check it out at www.RaspberryMoonST.com (click the Book Your Appointment button on the right). This system enables us to send appointment confirmations, reminders, and allows you to change your appointment.
I do my best to get everyone in at their preferred times. If for any reason you are unable to make your appointment please let me know a minimum of 2 days beforehand. You will receive an email when you book your appointment and should also receive your appointment reminders via email 2 days beforehand. Please be sure to check your spam folder and add us to your safe list! Remember this is a courtesy reminder, not reading your emails is not a good reason for missing your appointments. If you do not show up for your appointment or cancel with less than 24 hour notice you will be charged the full service. I understand emergencies happen but we all need to respect each other’s time.
