Marianne Frederick – How to Have Energy Left at the End of the Day

As women we tend to expend energy for everyone and everything else BUT ourselves! This session is an energizing an entertaining program to remind you to “Enjoy Life” and includes quick and fun tips to reenergize during the course of your busy days.

Marianne Frederick is the Facilitator of Fun and Learning. She can bring her spirited brand of positive play to any organization! Armed with her “Masters in Humorously Sharing Anecdotes,” Marianne delivers tools to help people grow by energizing them and encouraging use of their creative talents! Her energetic and accessible speaking style engages participants to learn how humor, laughter and play can help them stay healthy, happy and creative!

I have known Marianne for around 10 years I guess. We reconnected thanks to Salsa at The Phoenix Inn (on Fridays with my friend Malik). I was so excited to see her. I knew she would be an awesome fit for our ladies day. I promise she will make you laugh and have fun.

Heather Marshall – Legacy Stories: Capturing the spirit of Your Life.

Whether you are a new parent, hoping to gather and retain special moments as your children grow or a grandparent hoping to pass along family history, learning how to write Legacy Stories offers you the skills to craft engaging creative nonfiction–stories that capture the essence of what you are all about. I am looking at somehow using this to capture the lives on my Grandparents by asking them questions and writing out their answers. And also as a way to learn more about myself and my own “legacy” for myself, Who am I? I want to also use this as a way to tell my Raspberry Moon story better. I always learn something amazing from Heather. I picked this topic because I felt that it could be used in so many ways and for me personally with my Grandparents being older and in not so great of health I try to get as many stories as I can from them. I am hoping this will help me to create a beautiful story book for my family and my niece and nephew who will only have a little time with them.

Heather Marshall is an author and teacher whose classes, workshops and coaching focus primarily on helping people access their own stories. She has taught in classrooms across South Carolina and has presented workshops across the country. Heather’s fiction and creative nonfiction are published in literary journals and anthologies in the US and the UK and have been read on the radio in both countries. Her novel, The Thorn Tree (MP Publishing), released in June, 2014. For more information, please visit heathergmarshall.wordpress.com.

My newest friend Heather I met through Greenville Yoga (you know how I love that place!) Heather has done several writing classes for various events for me and she is just amazing. I am not a great writer. It takes me forever to get things on paper but she breaks it down in such an easy way and it makes me step back and say “Omigosh I just wrote that!”

Let’s Build a Happy Home in Haiti

Haitian Health Foundation Happy House
Haitian Health Foundation Happy House before and after

Normally I donate the money from these events to a local charity, this time I REALLY want to build a family a Happy Home in Haiti – I have had this flyer on my board for years. The cost to build a Happy House is $1,250. I think this is just an amazing program. I have donated to them before – I have sent kids to school as a gift to my Mom for Mother’s Day. She is a teacher and loves the idea of sending a child to school who otherwise couldn’t afford to go.

They have a 4 star rating with Charity Navigator and have been a former sponsored charity through Dining for Women (started locally by our very own Marsha Wallace!). I will be collecting donations at the shop and if you would like to make an extra contribution the day of the event that would be awesome. Raspberry Moon will be donating $250 in addition to the money raised from the event.

HHF is proud of an overhead of less than 9 cents per donated dollar, with over 91 percent of funds collected going directly to services for the poor.

She has a nice variety of sizes and shots. If you would like to see more of her work, contact her at 864-848-0848.

Can’t you just see yourself wrapped up in the yummy afghan? I can! Place an order today!

My friend Sherry Davis creates these fabulous pieces of marbled art. She brought her lovely hand-marbled scarves and notecards to the open house. The scarves are just gorgeous, with beautiful marbled patterns that are unique, each pattern slightly different from the last.

These are a few of her beautiful marbled note cards. I love mine! The photo doesn’t do them justice. These are perfect because they can be framed and displayed as an art piece by the person you share the card with. Lots of designs and colors to chose from. You can contact her by email at: bestbiscotti@charter.net and let her know you are interested!

Roxana Evans came too, and brought lots of her lovely pieces to share with us. She creates beautiful jewelry and accessories. Beading Mom is her Facebook page, and this is her Etsy site. She offers unique, one of a kind gifts that are made from your memories with photos you share, as well as lots of lovely beaded items and charms.

She has lots of special things to share, so visit her Etsy store or Facebook to let her know what she can make for you.

Jennifer Wynn Gilman of Fleur’s Refaire brought all these goodies to share! Her fun recycled, upcycled items include purses, pillow case dresses, tooth fairy pillows, bottle covers and lots of other cute items! Find her here at Etsy and on Facebook too.

Look how creative she is! Aren’t these purses the cat’s meow? Ugly Christmas sweaters never looked so good!

Our Holiday Open House was a big success! Thanks to all my friends that joined me, but mostly to you our customers! We still have a few goodies left at the shop, so come on over and pick out a few of your favorite things! Check my Raspberry Moon Skin Therapy Facebook page often for selection and specials too.

Look at these cute button mirrors! They would make great stocking stuffers. Only $5 each while supplies last.

We also have a nice selection of Poo-Pourri products left. Stop embarrassing potty odor before you go with these great products.

Survivors Finding Voice Lecture and Art Showing on October 12th

September 9, 2014

Heal the Past, Live the Present, Dream the Future

Heal the Past, Live the Present, Dream the FutureAs part of our Healing the Past, Living the Present and Dreaming the Future Events, we present Survivors Finding Voice Lecture and Art Showing with Wanda Meade at Augusta Road Location of Greenville Yoga on October 12 from 4 to 6 pm.

In the words of the artist, Wanda Meade:

Little did I know that a cold February morning out shooting photographs would lead to the passion project of Survivors Finding Voice.

As the project unfolded, my dream was to help survivors of sexual abuse tell their stories and at the same time raise community awareness. Having worked with survivors for more than 40 years, I have witnessed their courage and resilience and wanted the project to empower them by bringing their voices forward.

What I discovered as I worked on the project was that I was finding my own creative voice and spirit as a photographer…a talent that in the beginning I denied was mine. I am grateful for this “second half of life” experience and opportunity. The project has opened doors for me to creatively support this cause and to open eyes and hearts about sexual abuse.

Join me as I share my project and my story. The gallery preview of the Survivors Finding Voice photography exhibit begins at 4:00 p.m. at Greenville Yoga on Augusta Road. At 5:00 p.m. I will share the story of my journey to find my own voice through my work on this project. Questions and answers will follow before the exhibit closes at 6:00 p.m.

Read more about the project at http://survivorsfindingvoice.com/ and RSVP for this event on Facebook.

About ATS:

ATS® is a modern dance form developed by Carolena Nericcio, director of FatChanceBellyDance® in San Francisco in the 1980’s. ATS® dancers learn a series of moves along with cues that go with each and follow a leader to turn the simple moves into beautiful combinations.

The improvisational and interactive aspects of ATS® make it a perfect way to jam with other dancers at a hafla. The unique stylization and intriguing costumes also make it beautiful for the stage.
